What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?
The human brain and other organs contain naturally occurring cannabinoid (CB) receptors and the chemicals that bind to them. This is called the human endocannabinoid system (ECS). In fact, all mammals have their own version of the ECS.
The ECS helps keep our body’s metabolism in a state of homeostasis and function normally by influencing the functioning of other systems. It plays a critical role in our nervous system, and regulates multiple physiological processes. This includes the adjustment of our response to pain, appetite, digestion, sleep, mood, inflammation, and memory. The ECS also influences seizure thresholds (i.e. in epilepsy), coordination, and other processes such as the immune system, heart function, sensory integration (touch, balance, sense of space), fertility, bone physiology, the central stress response system (also know as the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis or the HPAA), neural development, and eye pressure.
Cannabinoids bind to specific CB receptors in the human body produce their effects. Cannabinoid receptors are one of the superfamily of G-protein-coupled receptors. So far, two types of cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) have been identified with certainty. The CB1 receptor is found mainly in the brain and central nervous system. CB1 is also present in certain tissues and organs, such as the lungs, liver and kidneys. The CB2 receptors are mainly found on certain cells of the immune system, the gastrointestinal tract, and in immune-related organs such as the spleen and tonsils.
What are Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and why are they important?
The safest and most reliable products are of pharmaceutical-quality. These products meet good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards. GMP is the highest standard of medicine manufacture. GMP is an assurance of consistently high-quality products and production processes. For medicinal cannabis, GMP practices should start from the very first step of the supply chain, cultivation, right through the entire production process to the finished product. Under GMP, each part of Satisan’s product production and testing processes are clearly documented. Personnel, premises and materials meet the highest standards. These processes provide consumers with the safest and most reliable products.
Why is lab testing important?
Thorough testing of products are critical to ensure potency, consistency, and purity. Satisan tests not only percentages of CBD, but also the presence of other cannabinoids in our full spectrum hemp oil to ensure regulatory compliance. Our lab analysis also tests for contaminants to make sure you’re enjoying the safest products available.
What are the benefits of full spectrum hemp oil?
Full spectrum refers to CBD oil products that not only contain CBD, but also contain some terpenes and trace amounts of other beneficial cannabinoids such as CBG and CBN. Usually these will be in ratios that were naturally occurring and extracted from the industrial hemp plant.
The alternative to full spectrum products is CBD isolate, which is typically 99+% pure molecular CBD. Usually, these products will have nothing but CBD in them because the CBD has literally been isolated from everything else. Pure CBD is good but not ideal, as the cannabinoid (CB) receptors of the human body are best activated with a combination of cannabinoids working together in concert.
Full spectrum hemp oil products offer the advantage of the “Entourage Effect” where all the cannabinoids and terpenes activate your endocannabinoid system in synergy, a desirable benefit that isolate-only products lack.
Satisan full spectrum products naturally contain a variety of beneficial phytocannabinoids in addition to CBD. We extract as many good, beneficial compounds found naturally in the hemp plant as possible, to better harness the entourage effect.
What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?
CBD is one of the most prevalent chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. CBD is non-intoxicating, lacking psychoactive or euphoric effects. While CBD is a component of marijuana (one of hundreds), by itself it does not cause a “high.” According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.” Research suggests CBD has many beneficial therapeutic effects, with minimal side effects.*
What does CBD do and how does it work?
Research has shown that our human endocannabinoid system has at least two receptors (CB1 and CBD2) to unfold their complex functional significance. It has been shown that the CB2 receptor plays an important role in the regulation or modulation of the immune system and that the CB1 receptors function to play an important role to regulate the brain and central nervous system.
Is CBD intoxicating?
CBD (cannabidiol), derived from high-quality hemp for all Satisan products, is one of the many chemical components of the cannabis plant that is expressly not attributed a psychoactive or euphoric effect. The hemp varieties used for Satisan do not contain any effective amount of THC (tetrahydro-cannabinol). Therefore our products labeled as “THC-free” are a pure dietary supplement to promote physical and mental well-being – without the slightest intoxicating side effect.
When and how often should I use CBD?
The appropriate dosage depends on the individual. Depending on the individual’s metabolism, effects of CBD may vary. Estimated average starting dose for metabolic CBD is 20mg daily for the first two days or until you feel the desired effects. The 20mg can usually be reduced to 10mg daily. In case of negative side effects or worsening of your symptoms, immediately reduce or discontinue the use of CBD.
How do I store my Satisan CBD?
CBD capsules should be stored at room temperature. Do not store in direct sunlight.
